Parent Association - APPEL

APPEL Committees 2010-2011

APPEL’s goal is to involve ALL parents in one or more committees thru the school year. The greater
your involvement, the more you and your child(ren) will get out of your experience at Ecole. We
hope one or more of these committees will interest you. Generally, committees only necessitate 2
days/month of attention unless working on a active event/activity.

Events: (2 chairs‐one at each campus, 8‐15 members) ) develops, organizes, publicizes and
implements secular holiday parties at each campus. Assists with Open House’s as per requests from
marketing director. Coordinates and oversees non fundraising events throughout the year,
particularly Fall /Spring picnics and Spring Teacher Appreciation week .

Facilities: (6‐10 members including chair) Assist the Administration and Faculty with regular
maintenance at both campuses (small “fix‐it” jobs), routine cleaning (other than regular janitorial
services); other non‐routine chores as needed for special events (eg open house, inspections etc.)

Fundraising Committee: (2 co‐chairs plus 8‐10 members) organizes and oversees various APPEL
fundraising events and programs throughout the year; researches and develops new sources of
fundraising for APPEL programming. Previous Events have included:

• Book Fairs (Fall and Spring)
• Boxtops/CCs
• Calendar
• Mardi Gras Parking
• Pizza Nights
• Silver Graphics
• Uniform Exchange
• Wine Tastings (Fall and Spring)

Gardening: (4‐6 members including chair) maintains (watering, pruning, planting) planters and
trees at both General Pershing and Perrier campuses; facilitates and assists faculty and students with
gardening plans and maintenance chores throughout the school year and during holiday and summer
breaks.

New Parents: (3‐5 members including chair) organizes several “meet and greet” events specifically
for new members of the EB parent community (cocktail parties, coffee and beignets, etc.) throughout
the year; provide a warm welcome and introduction to EB community and APPEL in general and at
all EB events – APPEL meetings, wine tastings, open house etc.

Outreach: (3‐5 members including chair) provides support to EB parents and families in need – new
child, grieving, illness, injury, job loss, etc.

Volunteer/Office: (4‐5) assist with routine office tasks as needed and directed by administration.

Yearbook: (3‐5 including chair) develop and create school yearbook. Budget needed.
